The FABAL management team has substantial experience in wine, viticulture, horticulture, marketing, sales, agribusiness production, finance, law, property, banking, planning, management and accounting. This breadth of experience allows it to be a pre-eminent originator and manager of agribusiness projects.
Agribusiness projects developed and managed by FABAL have initially provided growers with taxation deductions in the early years.
More importantly, growers have then been able to earn assessable income except for those years in which income has been negative due to the impact of climatic and agricultural uncertainties.
FABAL has strategically worked to become the supplier of premium wine grapes of first choice to the major Australian wine companies.
FABAL currently manages, for its growers and itself, more than 1,500 hectares of vineyards in premium wine grape regions in the Barossa Valley, Padthaway, Wrattonbully, Coonawarra, Clare Valley, Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale regions in South Australia, Margaret River in Western Australia and Heathcote in Victoria.
FABAL has only undertakes vineyard developments matched with secure grape purchase agreements with Australia's leading wine companies. This ensures that more than 95% of all wine-grapes produced on the FABAL managed vineyards are contracted for sale to Treasury Wine Estates, Accolade Wines / Constellation Wines Australia, Orlando Wines (a division of Pernod Ricard Pacific Pty Ltd), Australian Vintage Limited and other leading wineries.
After 17 years of viticulture management experience, FABAL diversified to newer, exciting horticulture developments. The Tasmanian cherry project has delivered almost 100 tonnes of premium cherries in the extraordinarily difficult 2011 harvest.
In 2009-2010, the growers in two large avocado and other tree fruit projects located at Childers, Queensland voted to appoint FABAL as the replacement responsible entity for their projects. The projects comprise more than 990 hectares of avocados, mangos and lemons.
FABAL works with a number of market leaders, Westmores, Simpson Farms and CostaExchange, to sell the premium fresh fruit from these horticultural orchards.
